Magnetic Flux

Flux is defined as the penetration of magnetic field through a given area.

Flux = Area x Magnetic Field

If the magnetic field penetrates the given area at an angle (not perpendicular, since cos90 = 0)

Flux = A x B cos a

where A is the area, B is the magnetic flux and a is the angle of penetration.

A flux passing through a coil of N turns of wire is said to have a link with the coil. Therefore

Magnetic Flux Linkage is given by:

Flux Linkage = Number of coil turn x Magnetic Flux
